The I Ching, cast exactly.
Knotlore simulates the I Ching's yarrow-stalk cast step by step, with the classical odds, then helps you reflect on the result. The classical text is quoted, never invented.

How a reading works
A reading follows the classical order, and the AI comes last. It cites passages by ID, and the passages you see are shown from the text itself, never written by the AI.
Ask
Write one real question about your own situation. Knotlore helps you word it clearly.
Cast
Divide the 49 stalks in a ritual cast, enter three numbers for a quick number cast (數字卦), or enter six lines you cast yourself.
Read
Zhu Xi's 12th-century rules decide which lines to read. The passages are shown from the classical text itself.
Reflect
An AI interpretation cites the passages it draws on, and you can ask follow-up questions. The reading is kept in a case file on your iPhone.
It helps you ask well, and sometimes says no.
The tradition names three times not to cast, known as 三不占. Knotlore keeps to them. It helps you shape one clear question, and it may decline a question that a reading can't help with.
Reflection, not prediction: a reading won't tell you what will happen, and it won't decide for you.
- 不誠不占Not without sincerity.
- 不義不占Not for a wrongful aim.
- 不疑不占Not without real doubt.
Where the interpretation runs
By default, readings use Apple's Private Cloud Compute. If Apple's models can't answer, Knotlore asks for your consent and then uses the Knotlore server. Help wording your question tries your iPhone first.
- DefaultApple's Private Cloud Compute
- Readings and follow-ups use Private Cloud Compute, part of Apple Intelligence. Apple says requests there are not stored. None of our servers are involved.
- Question helpOn your iPhone
- Help wording your question uses Apple's on-device model first, if your iPhone has one. The request doesn't leave the device.
- With your consentThe Knotlore server
- If Apple's models can't answer, Knotlore names the provider and asks you first. The Knotlore server currently uses Xiaomi MiMo. Nothing is sent until you agree.
In Settings › AI provider you can choose Apple only (nothing goes to another company), the Knotlore server, or your own API key for OpenAI, Anthropic, Xiaomi MiMo or DeepSeek, and withdraw consent at any time. How your data is handled
